Iran’s national cycling team had earlier won the title at the 2015 Track Asia Cup in India collecting five medals, including two gold ones.
The world governing body for sports cycling, Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) has sent an email to the Iranian Olympic Committee approving of three positions at 2016 Olympics for Iran’s cycling convoy.
So far, Iran has received one quota in the time trial section as well as three quotas in the road section securing a total of four places.
According to UCI’s regulations, the top teams in each continent win three Olympic tickets.
